This installation is a device frames sky into pieces as a form for our airy space, the sky for public awareness about serious air quality issue. The free floating shape of truss was designed with continuous curved metal sheets of various radius. 8′ width x 8′ depth x 3′ height, stainless steel metal sheet. The work is located at the newly built shelter for domestic violence victims. It was formed to celebrate braveness of victims to conceive their lives as light out of shadow. Multiple light fixtures project shade of donor names on gently curved rice paper skin which shaped by hand and stitched back to steel frame to express feminine craftsmanship. During winter season, we get to go through the darkest, coldest time. Thoughts are growing inwards looking ourselves closely. This deep moment leads us to complete a circle of each year. It is the moment of therapy purges dangerous emotions then we can be ready to welcome new start. Throughout the process, like a tree, human engraves annual cycle on our body cells. As fully immersed status of mind, flow is the moment of freedom from anyone’s judgement, even from ourselves. This airy statue is superimposed imagery of two figures. Name that Flower is a seasonal art installation which was intended to be the wanderers’ parklet on main street downtown Salt Lake City. Each potted flowers were named and transplanted to a vertical urban garden by people on the street. Salt Lake Downtown Alliance, 2015, 10’x20'x6’

Alive

The Utah Theater building was born as a center of performance art in 1918. It lived through its glorious era then after a local dance company left the building in 1992, it became vacant. The place was deceased. The idea began to awake the building and live alive again. The dynamic painting was drawn using floating movement of human body. A text “ALIVE” was placed after the existing building signage “ Utah Arts”. Alive is 3-dimensional texts with reflective surface to capture lively moment on the main street. With reopening of Regent street, it will create cultural anchor point on the other side of Main Street. Salt Lake Art Council, 2017

The gravity was designed to represent individuals who stand against being judged to be shortcoming by social norm. Three aluminum curves are sitting on a spring hinge to demonstrate the instability of the weighted feature.

The Loft project is a mixture of art installation and architecture. Located in Seoul, the 5Mx13M indoor space was repurposed to be a gold smith studio. A loft garden was designed to exhibit the client’s collection.
